Lead Guitar/Slide Guitar/Rhythm Guitar/Vocal - Jason Helton grew up in a musical family in mid-Michigan. At an early age he developed an affinity for classic country music from artists such as Merle Haggard, George Jones, Lefty Frizzel, Buck Owens and Gene Watson. During his teens, he developed a love for harder rock and blues music focusing his fascination and passion on the guitar stylings of players such as Larry McCray, Gary Moore and Jeff Healey. After playing for a small handful of years, he sat the guitar aside to focus on academics; he matriculated at Central Michigan University to study for a bachelor's degree in Analytical Philosophy. Subsequent to completing his undergraduate studies, he began performing in a host of cover-bands in a multitude of venues such as casinos, private parties, weddings, clubs and bars throughout Michigan and the surrounding region. He moved from Michigan to Nashville, Tennessee a year and a half ago and has done some road work with local artists. Jason is thrilled to be a part of the 'Swamp Gang Review'!
