CD REVIEWS:

The American Dream lives vividly for Charlie Wood.  Packing it in after years working on a pipeline in his native Louisiana, he moved on to Nashville.  These days Wood & his Swamp Gang Revue Band play almost anything ‘70’s to make ‘em happy at bars, weddings and whatnot.  All the while he’s plugging Keepin’ It Real, an album full of his honest songs about innocent, unruly and yet upright times.  Wood’s sunny outlook and rustic voice are a pleasure and a treasure.  When he sings the boot-stompin’ “Country Rebel Outlaw” there’s Southern, soulful Bob Seger in his pitch.  In the sweeping, silky “Alabama Stars,” it’s maybe a little blue-eyed Ray Charles.  The studio band is terrific, and features Jack Pearson playing understated, exquisite guitar on every song.  During the rollicking, Van Morrison-inspired “Wild Night Callin’,” Charlie eggs Jack on to thrilling results.  Original, feel-good Louisiana-bred rock ‘n’ soul—it’s perfect.  (CharlieWoodMusic.com)

Charlie Wood...Well, I am so glad I got to play guitar on his cd. I think he is a great writer and singer, he has style. A year ago I got a call for a session, little did I know I was not only gonna play on Charlie's record but we would become brothers.
- Jack Pearson(Allman Brothers, Singer/Songwriter/Musician/Producer; also plays mandolin on the Grand Ole Opry w/the Mike Snider Band)

Charlie Wood epitomizes Louisiana Soul. On this impressive outing, "Keepin' It Real", he does just that. Slinky grooves with pure, honest emotion in every note from a captivating voice. This one goes in the party mix for me. :)

They say in Nashville that it's about 90% luck and being in the right place at the right time. When we played BB Kings for the “Rock and Roll my Soul” benefit as we walked off the stage after performing Gina Hughes w/Galaxie Agency approached me and gave me a card. The rest is history. We are now very excited to announce that we are affiliated w/the Galaxie Agency.
